Elizabeth Lewis is a Denver small business attorney, mother of two, and owner of the Law Office of E.C. Lewis, PC. In addition to running her law firm, she educates small business owners throughout the state at various business group events, is part of the Colorado Bar Association Business Law Section, and has been involved with chambers of commerce and business associations.
Following the advice that she has given to hundreds of people, Denver business attorney Elizabeth Lewis became a small business owner herself in January of 2010. She is at least a fifth generation business owner in her family, with other members owning everything from real estate companies to electrical businesses to advertising firms.
When she is not helping her business clients, Elizabeth can be found playing with her kids and dog, cooking with her husband, gardening, and enjoying all that her native state of Colorado has to offer.
Most recently, she started to expand her legal practice by also becoming licensed in North Carolina so that she can provide services in more than one state and to help widen her knowledge of the various ways that small business grow and thrive from coast to coast.
Legal Experience
as a Denver Business Attorney
Prior to becoming an attorney, Elizabeth worked with a small Denver startup that grew rapidly over the years to be purchased by Experian, one of the three major credit bureaus. Seeing the growing pains that a startup had going through several mergers, layoffs, and dealing with legislation around a new industry, Elizabeth started to pursue a career in the legal field with dreams of working with others to help alleviate some issues that she saw those around her go through.
After working in the legal field for several years under others, Elizabeth was able to follow the path of many of her family members and became (at least) a fifth generation business owner. On January 1, 2010, Elizabeth opened the doors of her own law firm, the Law Office of E.C. Lewis, P.C. As a Denver business attorney, she continues to provide small business owners with legal help in a number of areas on all aspects of their business, from startup to dissolution and everything in between. In addition to helping a variety of small businesses on the daily legal aspects they need, she also focuses on technology and online law, having represented hundreds of technology, health, and STEM related business.
Prior to starting her own business law firm, Elizabeth worked for the Law Firm of David A. Sprecace, P.C., where she developed the firm’s business and technology law practice. She also has extensive experience in these fields from working under the lead attorney at the University of Colorado Technology Transfer Office, where she wrote licensing, terms of use, non-compete, employment, and business contracts.
A Denver Business Attorney
with a Personal Approach
What keeps Elizabeth’s clients coming back is her rare combination of extensive legal expertise and personal approach. When you are a small business owner looking for legal help, you want to know that your Denver business attorney has your best interests at heart.
As a lifelong Colorado resident educated at the most prestigious law school in Colorado (in her humble opinion) and with a business background, Elizabeth has all the qualifications to provide Denver small business owners with sound advice and words of encouragement from someone who truly wants to see their business thrive.
While providing legal services is the core of what she offers, as a small business owner herself she has personal insight into many of the issues that her clients face as she, too, has been an employer, leased space for her business, dealt with the hundreds of rules and regulations small businesses face everyday to keep their doors open. By being her own small business attorney and an owner of her business, she has learned what is needed to keep a thriving small business alive whether it is through the trials of being a first-time mom running a business, balancing civic duties while operating a business, and how to manage all those tax filings that business owners come to have a love-hate relationship with.

Education
Elizabeth Lewis is a native of Denver, Colorado, where she attended Holy Family High School, Metropolitan State College of Denver (Bachelor of Arts), and Regis University (Master of Science). She received her Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of Colorado Law School and continues her legal education today, taking Continuing Legal Education classes from the Colorado Bar Association and Denver Bar Association on a regular basis. In addition, since 2020 she has taken extensive Continuing Legal Education classes from the North Carolina Bar Association to add to her knowledge base to practice in North Carolina and to hopefully, bring some of their best practices to the Colorado business community.
IT Background
Prior to attending the University of Colorado Law School, Elizabeth worked at Experian, one of the largest credit bureaus in the country after the startup she originally worked through went through several mergers. There, she was a member of the IT department and focused on email marketing initiatives. The hands-on experience she acquired working in an IT environment gave Elizabeth an in-depth understanding of the challenges startups face. This included everything from software licensing issues to the specific legal problems companies can encounter in the many stages of their evolution, from startup to industry leader to, in some cases, closing their doors.
Her time working in IT for a major corporation has given her the background and perspective she needs to guide the companies she works with. All of the opportunities and obstacles her clients encounter are things she is familiar with from firsthand experience.
In addition to working in IT, Elizabeth also holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Technology. As part of her education, she helped manage the technology infrastructure of the university. She continues to be active in the IT community, attending conferences, classes, and events. This allows her to learn about the latest technology so she can provide helpful advice to her clients. Elizabeth’s educational background has made her uniquely qualified to provide small business legal help to Colorado business owners.
